Last gig for the year is at Uptown with the awesomely swinging new group formed by Sam Anning upon his return from 5 years spent living and breathing and working in the modern musical mecca that is New York. Oddly enough the first thing he did when he got home to Australia is start a good-fun old-timey swingin’ band playing sweet old songs written a century or so ago. The band coined their name from playing regularly at the Metropolitan Hotel in North Melbourne, and from Sam being a founding member of BopStretch. Bopstretch can’t do the last Wednesday of the year so we’re more than happy to assist with filling their gap. Regular Band features:
Sam Anning – bass and head raconteur
Craig “Flame” Fermanis – guitarings
Matt Jodrell – trumpet (and flugel but only on the stand)
Bertha Sidebottom – various wind-powered devices
AND OUR VERY SPECIAL GUEST (drum roll please….)
LYNN WALLIS on the snappy traps

What better way to finish the year and prepare yourself for an uncertain future than come to Fitzroy’s favourite jazz hang and drink and dance and heckle and possibly get all your gear off and leave your 2015 woes behind.
