One Flight Up honours the vast collection of material gifted to future generations by the great jazz composers of the 50s & 60s. Formed in 2022 to perform a series of shows at Uptown Jazz Cafe the band plays a fresh selection of choice “standards” at every gig along with some more modern material and some originals by the members of the quartet. In late 2022 Ben Robertson released a Bandcamp exclusive recording of the same quartet playing original material entitled “Songside Up”. The band also regularly performs without Julien as the Brett Williams Trio. The band name references the great Dexter Gordon and the fact that Uptown is on the first floor.
